The Rex Theatre in Clay Center underwent repairs the week of August 5th in order to repair a leaking awning. Renee Langvardt, Managing Director at the Rex, said a waterproof seal was added during the repairs, which required work by both a roofing company and and an electric company.
“The water goes down into the globes and then bursts when it freezes,” Langvardt said, refencing the location’s decorative bulbs and lights alike. The seal will prevent the leaking into the awning or causing additional damage, she said of the historic building. The repairs are expected to be done quickly and it will not affect the theatre’s business hours or showings.
