Rex Theatre’s Annual Grinch Christmas Party Set for this Friday

This Friday, December 20th, the Rex Theatre will host its annual afterschool “Grinch Christmas Party” at 12:30 p.m. to help kick off the students’ holiday break, with a special appearance from the Grinch himself.

Renee Langvardt, Rex Theatre Manager, said she started the Grinch Christmas Party several years ago as the early dismissal movie for December.

“Several years ago, I started with The Grinch, and that’s the movie that we watch on the after-school, early dismissal day. The 2018 version of The Grinch by Illumination Studios is a crowd favorite. Kids love it, and honestly, it’s one of my favorites. We love the Grinch, and so I just started that and it just kind of stuck.”

While the early dismissal movies are geared as a place for students to go after school, anyone in the community is welcome to attend. For $5 attendees will get a snack, drink, and ticket to the movie. Langvardt explained the reason she started early dismissal movies, like this one.

“It’s just something good for the kids in the community and with the Christmas one, they’re so excited about Christmas break, so I just feel like kicking it off with The Grinch is just a really fun way to get that holiday break started.”

The Grinch will also be available for pictures at the party. Also, don’t forget that Santa will be at the Rex Theatre on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. for Pancakes & Pictures.
