The River Valley Extension District is hosting a ‘Fall Fling’ on Monday, October 13th, at the Clay County Event Center in Clay Center. The event will offer a day of learning, movement, and fellowship from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Monica Thayer, Family Resource Management Agent, said they will offer two different sessions, with a salad buffet in between. Thayer said anyone is welcome to join them.

“It really is for anybody; we encourage everybody interested to come.”

“We try to rotate different topics; we try to bring in different presenters or different activities that we are doing.”

“Anybody interested in these topics is more than welcome to join us.”

This come-and-go event will begin with a presentation by retired extension agent Chuck Otte. As a passionate bird enthusiast, Otte will speak on winter bird feeding.

Attendees are asked to bring their favorite salad to share for lunch. A kitchen area is provided to keep salads hot or cold. Thayer spoke about the afternoon session.

“At 1:00 p.m., we will start the second session, and that is actually the last session for the senior fitness group in Clay Center, led by Gail Hileman.”

“And with this one, it’s participate at your own level. They’ll be doing some different senior fitness activities, like stretches, weightlifting, and things like that.”

“People are welcome to join either session, both sessions, or come for lunch; we just ask that you bring a salad to share.”

“It is just come and go as you please.”

Door prizes and giveaways will also be given out during the event. For more information or if you have any questions on the ‘Fall Fling,’ contact the Clay Center Extension office.
