The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a Scam going around in the County. An individual is calling, impersonating a Clay County Deputy requesting money via Venmo for a Warrant for failure to appear.

Sheriff Alan Benninga said that this is not something law enforcement does.

Benninga said they never know where these scam calls are coming from, but they are working on the case and are doing the best they can to resolve this issue.

If you receive a phone call from a Clay County Deputy demanding money over the phone immediately hang up. The Sheriff’s Department will never ask for money over the phone.
