The Planning Commission of the City of Clay Center unanimously approved to recommend to the mayor the hiring of Vern and Susie Swanson for the task of updating the city’s comprehensive plan.

Commission member Kyle Bauer, who proposed the idea during the previous month’s meeting, approached the Swansons to discuss the plan’s revision, including updating statistics and other information. Although neither was willing to take on the task individually, they agreed to collaborate on the project for a fee of $2,000, with a deadline set for July 1st.

Bauer emphasized that this was a bargain, considering the Swansons’ involvement in the community over the past decades. He added that they’re quite capable of addressing the commission’s needs and identifying necessary changes.
