The Clay County Sheriff’s Department recently acquired Ballistic Panels for the deputies of the department. These panels are best known as bullet vests.
Alan Benninga, Clay County Sheriff, said that deputies are required to wear them while they are on duty.
Benninga said that bulletproof vests are rated to be bullet-resistant for different calibers. These are designed for the safety of law enforcement officers. Benninga said the panels need to be replaced every so many years.
Ballistic Panels and vests are an added security for law enforcement, giving them a better chance to get home safely after a full day or night on duty.
