By: Ryan Duey

Two Clay County businesses were awarded Small Business Development Matching Grants by the Clay County Commission recently: ‘SageBrush Salon & Spa’ in Wakefield and ‘The Wild Grove’ north of Green.

SageBrush is owned and operated by Sage Doll. Doll was awarded a $5,000 grant to expand her existing business. Doll purchased a home in Wakefield with the intent of renovating the home into a spa for the community.

The Wild Grove is owned by McKenzie Ryan. Ryan was awarded a $5,000 grant to help open her new business. Ryan plans to move an old cook house located on their property north of Green near their home, and renovate the old cook house into a Hair Salon.

These two businesses are the third and fourth awardees of the ten available Small Business Grants that are available in Clay County.
