Update on the Gas Leak from June 28th

Safeena Walji from Kansas Gas took time to give a quote and give us some insight on a gas leak that happened on June 28th in the 700-800 blocks of Grant, Clay, and Sherman Street.

“Yesterday afternoon, Kansas Gas Service responded to a hit natural gas line in Clay Center after a third party accidentally hit the line.  While our crews worked to shut off the gas, a few homes were evacuated as a safety precaution. Once the gas was shut off, residents were able to return home. Our crew completed repairs yesterday evening. The road closures were not due to this incident, but other work being done in the area by a third party. Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate the cooperation and patience of the community as we worked to resolve the issue yesterday.”

Be sure if you are home and think you smell gas, report it immediately to the proper authorities.
