The Clay County Commissioners held their regular Board meeting on Monday, August 26th. Topics discussed included the disposition of Real Property, asphalt bids, certifications, Mitigation Planning, and more.
Wava Kramer met with the Board regarding the Longford Fun Days. Kramer asked the Board for a monetary donation to use for prizes, treats, and supplies. The Board agreed to donate the funds for the Event.
Joel Mason, County Attorney, met with the Board to hold the Notice of Disposition of Real Property and Notice of Public Hearing. Commissioner Thurlow made the motion to dispose of the Real Estate. The County Attorney will prepare a Claim Deed. The motion passed unanimously.
Bobby Shomper, Highway Administrator, presented asphalt bids to the Board of three companies. The Board advised Shomper to review the bids, and they will discuss them next week.
Alec Trembath, EMS Director, informed the Board that the Department held its quarterly meeting last week, covering emergency runs, protocols, and shift changes. He also informed the Board that the State of Kansas changed the date of recertification for EMTS, AEMTS, and Paramedics to December 1st. EMS will be covering a football game and the Longford Rodeo this week.
Pam Kemp, Emergency Manager, reported to the Board that last week was busy with the Mitigation Plan meeting and a KAC webinar that several City and County Officers attended.
Dan Rickley, County Health Director, reported to the Board that they have had an increase in clients for In-Home Services recently, this service helps keep individuals in their own homes.
Alan Benninga, Sheriff, reported to the Board that they worked the Wakefield Birthday Bash last weekend and will be working the Longford Rodeo this weekend. He also stated that the kitchen in the Law Enforcement Center is in need of repairs.
Marsha Davis called in to Board requesting a donation for the Clay Center Cruise night and use of the Courthouse Square on September 27th. The Board donated funds to the Cruise Night and granted permission for use of the Square.
