Wakefield Angel Tree Helps Families in Need

By Quinn O’Hara

November 15th is the last day to sign up to benefit from the 2023 Wakefield Angel Tree.

Families in need of present donations to assure their children receive gifts can sign up using an online form provided by the Wakefield PRIDE organization. Each family fills out a form for each child.  They are asked general questions to help guide the donors such as: the size of clothing, shoe size, favorite colors, toys they are interested in, hobbies, etc. They also provide Wakefield PRIDE with a guide of gifts they need and want.

Once all the forms have been submitted and collected, a tree will be placed at Wakefield City Hall, and the requests will be hung from its branches for donors to select. Donors then purchase items on the list and deliver them back to City Hall.

The Wakefield Angel Tree has a decades long history of aiding the community in celebrating the holiday season. Year after year the Tree has collected at least 100 items, and benefits 15-25 families and 30-40 nursing home residents.

The program also gathers food for a Christmas Feast food basket for each family. Donors can also provide whole hams and turkeys for the food basket in addition to their Angel Tree donations.
