On the evening of Monday, March 11 the Wakefield Library Board met for their regular meeting. Topics discussed include their 2025 budget, a new first aid kit, and their upcoming building expansion.
The meeting began with the Secretary and Treasurers reports and correcting minutes from the previous meeting. Board President Janita Witty reported that she visited the Clay County EMS office to discuss the assembling of a first aid kit at the Library. Witty said that the EMTs at CCEMS suggested several items for the kit and donated some items of their own. The kit has since been put together and stored at the Library.
The board also discussed their college scholarship for seniors program and said that scholarship applications should be turned in soon.
The board discussed their budget for 2025 with Wakefield Mayor Leza Chryssovergis and voted to create a mock-up budget to review in time for next month’s meeting.
The board also voted to purchase 16 moveable shelves and 7 wall shelves for the new expansion. The board said they will be breaking ground on the expansion on the morning of March 13. The new building is planned to be finished by September 11 2024.
