On January 17th, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers with the Junction City Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of West 4th Street in Junction City, Kansas, in reference to a subject reported to be suffering from possible gunshot wounds.
Upon arrival, officers located a 66-year-old white male suffering from what was believed to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to Stormont Vail Flint Hills Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
This incident remains an active investigation. The Junction City Police Department has identified and interviewed all individuals present during the incident. At this time, no arrests have been made.
There is no ongoing threat to the community related to this incident.
Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be presented to the Geary County District Attorney’s Office for review to determine whether any charges are appropriate.
