Man Arrested in Connection to the Murder of AJ Perez

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) in collaboration with Finney County Sheriff’s Office arrested Oscar Corrales, 44, of Garden City, on Wednesday, December 27th on a warrant for second-degree murder connected to the death of Alexander “AJ” Perez, according to a news release.

On December 14, 2020, family members reported that Perez, 35, was missing to the Ulysses Police Department. Around a month later after foul play was suspected, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the KBI.

Based on an investigation by the Garden City Police Department and the Finney County Sheriff’s Office, additional charges for racketeering, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft were made.

Corrales was being held on unrelated charges at the Finney County Jail when he was arrested.

The release states authorities believe Perez was killed on or around Dec. 6, 2020, in Finney County.

The investigation is ongoing.
