Man Held on $1.5 Million Bond for Riley County Overdose Death

According to a Riley County Police Department release, on Thursday, May 2nd, officers with the Riley County Police Department secured the arrest of Luke Patrick Johnson, 21, in cooperation with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson was located in Pottawattamie County and taken into custody on the Riley County District Court warrant by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office. Custody was transferred to RCPD who transported Johnson back to Manhattan for booking.

Johnson was arrested on four separate warrants including: distribution of a controlled substance causing death, aggravated battery x3, distribution of a controlled substance causing great bodily harm x2, and aggravated endangering a child x2.

Johnson’s charges are linked to the death of an 18-year-old female in May of 2023. Other charges stem from 2022 and 2023 cases involving controlled substances which resulted in bodily harm and an aggravated battery incident which occurred in Aggieville in late 2022.

Johnson’s bond was set at $1,575,000. He is currently confined in the Riley County Jail.
