RCPD Investigates Series of Vehicle Thefts Over The Weekend

A series of vehicle thefts were reported over the weekend in Riley County.

On Friday, August 9th, a 30-year-old woman reported that an unknown suspect was seen on camera opening her vehicle in the 900 Block of Walnut in Riley and taking it overnight. The total loss reported was $8,000.

Then on Saturday, four victims reported the theft of a black 0216 Nissan Altima in the 700 block of Allison Avenue. Items in the vehicle included an iPad, Airpods, military gear, and tools. The loss from the contents of the vehicle was $3,500. The total loss including the vehicle is over $11,000.

On Sunday, just before 3:00 p.m., a 24-year-old man reported that his 2010 silver Honda Accord was taken by an unknown subject in the 400 Block of Knox Lane. The total loss with this report is $12,000.

RCPD also reported the recovery of a stolen 2000 Ford F250 at the Corner of Westwood and Fort Riley Blvd. Police returned the vehicle to the owner.
