Riley County police are looking for a man involved in a Sunday afternoon shooting at an apartment complex on Flint Hills Place in Manhattan.
Responding to calls reporting gunfire at 1:47 p.m., officers found a 53-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his right arm and leg. The victim was transported to Via Christi Hospital and later to a larger facility; his current condition remains unknown.
Officers established a perimeter and conducted a search, but did not find the suspect, police then cleared the area at 7:17 p.m.
A social media post by RCPD at 4:15 p.m. initially described an “active incident” near Kimball and N. Manhattan avenues, but lifted the notice just after 4:30 p.m. while authorities continued to investigate.
The Riley County Police Department doesn’t believe there is any threat to the community. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
