The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) announced a scam that has been reported by multiple citizens. An individual has contacted them claiming to be Patrol Officer Davenport with RCPD.

During the call, Officer Davenport advised that they knew personal information about the individual. The caller then requested money for payment of a warrant stemming from PPP loans taken out during the pandemic. The Riley County Police Department does not employ a Patrol Officer Davenport.

Always be cautious about releasing personal information or providing payment to someone over the phone that you have not met or do not know.

If you receive a call similar to this, please contact RCPD to verify it was an actual officer or RCPD employee who called. RCPD will never request payment over the phone.
