Suspects Arrested in Meade County for Meth and Fentanyl

Two individuals, Jeffrey A. Filley, 47, and Theresa R. West, 32, were apprehended by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), in collaboration with the Iola Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

On Wednesday, January 3, KBI agents located the suspects, leading KHP troopers to conduct a traffic stop. During the stop, around two pounds of methamphetamine and approximately 2,500 pills believed to contain fentanyl were discovered.

At around 8 a.m. on January 3, Jeffrey A. Filley and Theresa R. West were arrested on charges including distribution of methamphetamine, distribution of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, distribution or possession of a controlled substance using a communication facility, and conspiracy. West also faced charges for driving while suspended and committing various traffic violations.

Both suspects were taken into custody and booked into the Meade County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
