Concordia City Commissioners have authorized staff to move forward with grant and loan applications for a potential Community Activities Center at Rasure Field, with a public hearing scheduled for August 6th, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Initial talks for the project began in 2022 with support from the Dane G. Hanson Foundation. Though a joint facility with USD 333 was considered in 2023, it did not move forward. In 2024, the city used grant funds to hire Jones Gillam Renz for design renderings and cost estimates. The proposed facility would include pickleball and basketball courts, a playground, a walking track, a sports simulator, and more.
Commissioners reviewed value-engineering options but chose to maintain the original design. Staff continue to explore funding avenues, and community input will be gathered at the upcoming public hearing.
