High Plains Resources to Continue Hydrogen Testing in Washington County this Spring

High Plains Resources plans to start Phase 2 of hydrogen and helium seismic testing in Washington County in March or April, focusing on the southern half of the area. They will return with a new crew for more detailed assessments. This involves placing sensors, using a “shaking truck,” and other equipment to generate and record sound waves reflecting off underground rock formations, aiding in locating potential gas reserves.

Testing routes will mirror previous ones, but landowners will now receive compensation. Crews will seek landowner permissions in person instead of sending letters, using marked trucks, and coordinating with the Sheriff’s Office.

Jimmy Workman, the county’s Road and Bridge supervisor, believes the process will run smoother due to improved communication, including daily oversight by a new testing manager who plans to meet with township officials next spring.
