Kaitlin Moore, Foods, Nutrition, and Health Agent
K-State extension offices will play a leading role in community-based projects as twenty extension units in Kansas have received mini-grants from the Kansas Health Foundation to implement programs that combat food insecurity in the state.
The River Valley Extension District has been awarded a Hunger Free Kansas grant from the Kansas Health Foundation. The River Valley District will be using their grant dollars to set the Concordia Farmers Market up to accept SNAP cards as well as credit/debit cards.
This project will increase access to local foods. The grant will also provide an opportunity for local food producers to reach a new customer base and see more sales during the farmer’s market. The River Valley Extension District is excited for the opportunity to work on this project this spring and summer.
If you find yourself in Concordia this summer on a Thursday between the hours of 4 and 6pm, please stop by and say hello!
