Throughout November, the Community Foundation for Cloud County will participate in Match Month. 48 participating funds will be part of this initiative, looking to raise funds for their organization.
The 48 participating funds will have their donated funds matched by 100%, out of a total of $20,000 thanks to generous donors. Community Foundation Executive Director Brenda Gilliland said that the Impact Fund will have an even larger match.
“So, the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and also the Patterson Family Foundation. They are both going together to give us a $50,000 match. And so, we are matching 300% to the Impact Fund, and that’s really cool, hard to even fathom sometimes. So, I use little examples like, $100 becomes $400, $1,000 becomes $4,000. and the one that’s really amazing to me is $5,000 becomes $20,000.”
The Impact Fund for Cloud County is the largest fund the Community Foundation uses to grant to charitable organizations and other qualified entities. Gilliland said that growing this fund gives them more money to help people throughout the county.
On Monday, November 4th the Community Foundation and local funds will be at the Co-op Distribution Center Meeting Room in Concordia from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a Kickoff Event. Gilliland spoke a little about the Kickoff Event.
“We’re starting out with a kickoff. It’s really just a Kickstarter, getting people fired up and excited about it, but of course, we encourage them to bring their check or cash and give in person that day. The kickoff does not mean you can only give that day, it’s just a Kickstarter. It’s getting people fired up and ready to go for the rest of the month.”
Beginning November 1st individuals can donate via a mailed check to the Community Foundation at P.O. Box 213, Concordia, KS, or conveniently online at www.communityfoundationforcloudcounty.org. Gilliland said that checks must be postmarked by November 30th for matching funds.
