An anonymous donor has stepped up to support EMT education in Washington County, helping ease the financial burden for future emergency responders.
EMT training costs can total around $2,000 for the four-month course. While a rural ambulance service education grant already offers up to $1,150 for students who commit to working one year for that service, the donor is boosting the opportunity even further.
This donation will cover up to an additional $750 for each student who agrees to work for any ambulance service within Washington County. Caroline Scoville, AEMT, called the contribution “a very generous offer” and a powerful example of community collaboration.
A new EMT class begins in Washington in January. Those interested in enrolling or learning more can contact Caroline at the City of Washington, 785-325-2284.
