Each year, the Governor’s Scholars Awards Program recognizes the top academic high school seniors from across the state of Kansas. Held annually in Topeka, this prestigious event honors the top one percent of graduating seniors for their exceptional academic achievements.
Governor Laura Kelly praised this year’s recipients, noting that the students “have demonstrated dedication and commitment to their studies and a true passion for learning.” She emphasized that their hard work has earned them this well-deserved recognition.
Clifton-Clyde High School senior Jolie Girard was selected as one of the few distinguished students from across the state to receive this honor.
Girard, the daughter of Ron and Stephanie Girard, has been actively involved in numerous organizations during her four years at Clifton-Clyde. She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), the National Honor Society, and Future Farmers of America (FFA), to name a few. In addition to her academic involvement, she has also participated in volleyball, basketball, and was a member of the Sharpshooters for two years.
Girard plans to attend Kansas State University in the fall, where she intends to pursue a degree in psychology with the goal of becoming a school psychologist.
