Constitution Week is Scheduled for September 17-23

Clay Center, KS- The Nathan Edson Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution is participating in Constitution week activities.  Constitution week is set for September 17 through the 23.

Co-chair of the Constitution Week Committee Alice Bachand  said that on September 17th in 1787, the constitution was finalized and signed and just needed to be ratified by the states.

The resolution was adopted on July 23rd 1956 and signed into law on August 2, 1956.

Bachand says that the DAR is the main organization that encourages the observation of constitution week and that by knowing the constitution and bill of rights, citizens will understand why the country runs the way it does.

Bachand encourages people to ring a bell at 4 pm on September 17th to commemorate the signing of the constitution.
