Help Washington County FBLA Members Fill their Community Cookbook with Local Recipes

By: Ryan Duey

Wahington County USD 108’s FBLA members are currently working on a community service project, and they need the community’s help.  They are working on creating a Community Cookbook using recipes from around the area to sell as a Christmas Gift. Proceeds from the sales will benefit the community playground project.

High school student and FBLA member Rowley Keesecker explained how the idea of a Community Cookbook came to be.

“So, we were looking for a community service idea to do with our FBLA group and my teacher had the idea that we wanted to create a recipe book. She said that we wanted to bring something into the Community that is personal to everyone.”

Community members who would like to share their special recipe can do so by dropping it in the drop box at the high school or Washington City office. Recipes can also be emailed to tigerdesigns@usd108.org. Keesecker said recipes are due by Thanksgiving. She said they will hopefully be ready for Christmas.

“We will work on typing them and creating our book and then we will print them and hopefully have them ready to sell before Christmas. It makes the perfect gift, full of our Community involvement. They will be on the school’s Facebook page. So, watch for updates and they will be sold at the City office.”

Help local FBLA members complete their community service project by dropping off or sending recipes. The completed cookbooks will make a great addition to anyone’s kitchen and will help local students and the community. Keep up to date with their progress on USD 108’s Facebook page.
