Finance Pathway students at Junction City High School (JCHS) are busy preparing tax returns for USD 475 staff and community members in Junction City, Fort Riley, Grandview Plaza, Milford, and surrounding areas.
The school’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site has been running since 1999, with students becoming IRS-certified to prepare basic and advanced returns. They electronically file both Federal and State returns, allowing taxpayers to receive refunds in a short amount of time.
The tax program, a nearly 30-year tradition at JCHS, is student-run under the supervision of teacher Roxanne Whaley. The tax site operates every school day from 7:40 to 9:05 a.m. Appointments can be scheduled, or individuals can visit room B225 at the high school. A drop-off service is also available in the main office. Contact Roxanne Whaley at the high school with any questions.
