The Kansas Supreme Court will hold a special evening session on March 10 in Abilene as part of its outreach effort to help Kansans better understand the judiciary and its work.

The session will run from 6:30 to about 7:30 p.m. at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library. The public is invited to observe oral arguments in one case, followed by an informal reception with the justices.

Chief Justice Eric Rosen said taking cases on the road gives residents a firsthand look at how courts interpret and apply laws under the Kansas and U.S. Constitutions.

Abilene marks the 26th community visited since the program began 15 years ago. Since 2011, the court has convened special sessions across Kansas to increase transparency and public understanding of the legal system.
