New “Roar and Soar” Scholarship at CCCC

By Payton Tholstrup

On April 18th, 2024, Cloud County Community College announced its new “Roar and Soar” scholarship. It’s a tuition and fees scholarship for students on free and reduced lunches attending Concordia High School.

The scholarship will cover the entire cost of one three-credit hour class at Cloud. Currently, a student can only qualify for one scholarship for a single class per semester, in either the spring or fall.

An anonymous donation that was given to the College Foundation established the scholarship. The fund is open to donations from any businesses and community members who would like to contribute.

“The goal is to help students to understand that higher education is a true possibility and allow them to know they can be successful in a college setting,” Cloud President, Amber Knoettgen, said. “We hope to see more donations from others within our community, as an investment in the future of our youth.”

This scholarship will be available in fall 2024. It’s available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Concordia High School students who are interested in the scholarship should contact a high school counselor or the JAG-K coordinator to fill out an application.
