A new four-part Spanish class series is being offered this August for adults who want to feel more confident understanding and speaking Spanish. The classes are open to anyone 18 and older, whether learning for travel, business or everyday life.

The classes will meet Thursdays—August 7, 14, 21 and 28—from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Landoll Lanes, 2005 Center Street in Marysville. Please note: no outside food or beverages may be brought into Landoll Lanes.

Instructors include Jennifer Franco and Karen Rivera Cobian, both originally from Guadalajara, and Pat Schuette, retired Spanish teacher from Marysville High School. The team brings a mix of lived experience, professional insight and a shared goal: to make learning Spanish approachable and useful for everyday life in Marysville.

“This isn’t about changing Marysville’s culture—it’s about helping people feel more connected and prepared,” said Franco. “Whether you’re traveling, working with customers or want to be able to offer help when someone’s struggling, learning a little Spanish can make a big difference.”

Each session will center on practical vocabulary, conversation tips and time for questions. The classes are casual, interactive and meant to help break down language barriers in everyday situations.

Organizers emphasize that learning Spanish is good for business and good for community building.

“Once you learn a second language, it becomes easier to learn more,” said Franco. “We want people to feel comfortable trying something new—and maybe have some fun along the way.”

The program is sponsored by Landoll Company, OneMarysville and the City of Marysville. To register, contact OneMarysville at wayne@onemarysville.com or 785-562-3101.
