Kansas State University students moved into their new homes on Wednesday, August 14th as the university celebrated its campus-wide move-in day.
K-State Residence Halls opened bright and early to welcome students. Some students, such as those participating in band practice, sorority recruitment, and this year’s inaugural leadership summit, moved in early last weekend.
The leadership summit was a new addition to the move-in process this year. Students who participated in the summit helped with the move-in process on Wednesday. According to Assistant Director Whitney Penn, 125 students came and learned about leadership skills, like how to interact with people, as well as what opportunities are available on campus this year.
Another new addition to the move-in process was an off-day for residence hall workers and move-in coordinators over the weekend. This was done out of appreciation for their hard work, and to recognize how much of a team effort move-in is.
By the end of the day Wednesday, 950 students had moved into K-State’s residence halls.
Classes at K-state begin on Monday, August 19th.
