Two Washington County eighth graders from the Explore class, Madison Thompson and Bella Roskilly have banded together to host a “Walk for the Future” fun walk fundraiser to support two local children, Addie Voelker and Micah Helms, as they battle cancer.
The fun walk will take place on Sunday, April 26th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington County High School track.
Thompson said this idea came from a school project.
“We have a class called Intro to Explore 8, and we had to find a semester-long project.”
“We wanted to do some sort of walk-a-thon. We talked about having it for Addie and Micah who are fighting cancer, and we wanted to do that.”
Patrons who preregister with their name and shirt size by Friday, April 11th will receive an event t-shirt. Prizes will also be given out during the fun walk. Roskilly spoke about how the community can register and help.
“There are two ways community members can help. The first is they can preregister by emailing walktothefuture108.org, or they can just come to the fun walk to participate. The second way is to tell the family and friends about it.”
Preregistration and a chance at a t-shirt closes after the 11th. Patrons who do not preregister can register at the gate for $5 on the day of the walk. To preregister email walktothefuture@usd108.org.
Take the opportunity to support these two students while helping families in need.
