The National Weather Service (NWS) is hosting multiple Storm Spotter training courses across the area for anyone interested in becoming a Storm Spotter.
People can attend Storm Spotter classes either in-person or online in the coming weeks to learn how to prepare for and respond to severe weather. Each class will be held in the evening hours and lasts around 90 minutes.
Each course is led by an NWS meteorologist who will teach attendees about thunderstorm development, structure, and safety during thunderstorms. Attendees will also learn the basics of how to report storm information.
Storm Spotter Courses in the area:
- Geary County at 7:00 pm on March 3rd at the 4-H Senior Citizen Center
- Riley County at 7:00 pm on March 10th at Pottorf Hall in Cico Park
- Ottawa County at 7:00 pm on March 11th at the Ottawa County Courthouse
- Republic County at 6:30 pm on March 18th at the Belleville 4-H Building
- Marshall County at 7:00 pm on March 19th at the Waterville City Hall
- Cloud County at 7:00 pm on March 31st at the North Central KS Medical Center
- Clay County at 6:30 pm on April 3rd at the Clay County Event Center
- Washington County at 7:00 pm on April 9th at the Washington Fire Station
