The Geary County Schools USD 475 Board of Education has approved hiring Dominique West as assistant principal at Ware Elementary USD 475 for the 2024-25 school year.
West has been in the school district since 2019 when she completed her student teaching at Sheridan Elementary. She then taught third grade at Ware Elementary from 2019-2023. Most recently, she taught third grade at Washington Elementary under the leadership of principal Dixie Coleman.
West completed her degree at Kansas State University. She received the 2023 Devin Family Scholarship for Teachers and went on to receive a master’s degree in professional educational leadership at K-State.
West has been a key part of the district’s third-grade summer task force and was part of a social studies piloting committee during the 2022-23 school year. This knowledge will be useful in her new role as assistant principal.
