On Saturday, May 17th, the Washington County Fairgrounds will be full of youth and livestock during the WaCo Wabash. This youth livestock show, featuring swine, sheep, goats, and beef livestock, is an all-day event starting at 8:00 a.m.
Event Coordinator Jessie Doll said this isn’t just for local youth, but youth all around learning from one another.
“The Waco Wabash is all about the youth, and we wanted a way to showcase them. The kids who participate in youth livestock shows work extremely hard. There are a lot of hours put in at home with their families.”
“These shows teach responsibility and help kids develop life skills and a very strong work ethic. It’s way more than just the livestock show, and we wanted a way for youth to practice their skills in a ring and to learn from one another.”
Doll said this is a community event and all are welcome. Thanks to an anonymous donor all Washington County youth that show at the Washington County Fair will get free market or breeding class entry.
“We have some wonderful sponsors who have helped us make this show a success. We have prizes for overall and reserve showmanship for all four divisions, including Peewee, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. There are also prizes and cash payouts for overall and reserve animals for market and breeding. Prizes are also given to class winners.”
“These kids are our future, so please consider coming down to the Washington Fairgrounds to support them.”
Sponsors and vendors are still welcome to sign up to be part of the event. Entry forms go live on Thursday, April 17th. Additional information on the WaCo Wabash Livestock Show can be found on their Facebook Page.
