The Heritage Homes Association of Abilene will host its 48th annual Homes for the Holidays Tour on Saturday, December 6th, and Sunday, December 7th. Saturday’s tour will run from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., while Sunday’s tour will go from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The tour will offer attendees an opportunity to get a glimpse at some of the heritage homes and historic buildings Abilene has to offer.
Julie Roller Weeks, Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau Director, explained what makes this yearly tour so special.
“This is your chance to see inside properties that you otherwise wouldn’t get to see unless you were friends with the owners or if the property came for sale. That’s what makes this really special.”
“This year, we have 5 really incredible homes that will be on the tour and one really spectacular church.”
Weeks said this is a self-guided tour, allowing attendees to enjoy the tour at their own pace while viewing as many homes as they like.
“When you purchase your ticket, you’ll get the list of the properties. This is a self-guided tour, and you can go in any order that you would like.”
“You can visit one, or you can visit all six. It’s really a tour on your own time frame.”
“Some people stop and break for lunch or go downtown and do some shopping in between, whatever you would like.”
Proceeds from the tickets go to purchasing Bronze Plaques that are placed on the historical homes.
Tickets are available online on the Little Town of Mansions website, or locally at West’s Country Mart, Abilene Downtown Antiques, or Mud Creek Antiques.
