On Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st parts of downtown Abilene will be closed off and full of vendors and German heritage when Abilene hosts its annual Oktoberfest celebration.
This family-friendly event is free to attend and will have multiple vendors, German food, bounce houses, German Dancers, and more. Hannah Nagely and Heidi Anderson, Oktoberfest Coordinators, said there are many new and unique activities and events this year.
Anderson said they started Oktoberfest after not seeing many events like this in the area. And with many area locals being of German heritage they thought it would be worth starting, it is now one of the biggest events in Abilene.
Last year the event had around 6,000 attendees and Nagely and Anderson expect even more patrons this year. More information on this year’s Oktoberfest can be found on the Abilene Oktoberfest Facebook page.
