The Clay Center Masonic Lodge #134 will host its 2nd annual Community Coin Hunt, with the first clue releasing on their Facebook page on June 1st. This year’s event will feature over $800 in prizes.

Tracy Bloom, Grand Secretary of the Freemasons Grand Lodge of Kansas, and a local Masonic Lodge member, said this is a fun way to give back to the community.

“We wanted to give back to the community in some little way, and we thought this would be kind of a cool thing to do.”

“I was surprised last year by how many people approached me asking me questions about the coin hunt.  I was really pleased with the number of folks that we reached.”

“Again, it’s just a fun little thing we do, and community members will have an opportunity to win a few prizes too.”

Local businesses have graciously donated prizes for the Coin Hunt. Prizes will include: diamond earrings, pizzas, haircuts, and much more. Bloom spoke about how the Coin Hunt will work.

“It will be open to anybody. We will release clues on our Facebook page, and obviously, the first clue will be pretty abstract and non-descript. But as the clues go along, they will get you targeted in on the coin.”

“The first person to find it should pick the coin up. There will be a note in there on who they need to call.”

“I believe we have about $1000 worth of prizes at the current moment that will be given out along with the coin.”

Bloom said they also plan on adding some Clay Center and Clay County history into the clues, also adding to the fun. For clues and all other information on the Coin Hunt, follow the Clay Center Lodge #134 Facebook page.

Bloom added that the Masonic Lodge was awarded funding to bring doctors from the University of Kansas to the Piotique Festival to offer free cancer screenings during the morning. More information will be posted on their Facebook page as Piotique nears.
