Comedian William Lee Martin, formerly known as Cowboy Bill, will bring his ‘Funny Life Tour’ to the Brown Grand Opera House in Concordia on Saturday, September 6th, at 7:30 p.m.

Martin has two comedy specials currently streaming on Amazon Prime, along with a brand new special on YouTube. Martin speaks on real-life moments, including marriage, parenting, and more, turning them into funny, relatable stories.

After going through a divorce and falling on hard times, he asked himself, “Am I Happy?”

“I had written a book called ‘Life Under the Neon Moon, Now that She’s Gone and Took the Dog with Her,’ and everybody told me that it read like Stand-Up, but I still wasn’t quite ready to jump out there.”

“Then one day I lost my job, and it was my grandmother who said, ‘Once you go home, look in the mirror and ask yourself, are you happy?’ And I knew the answer was no.”

“Sitting behind me was that manuscript, so I thought I’d do Stand-Up Comedy. I’d kind of been leaning towards it, and that was it.”

“May 17th, 1996, was my first time on stage, and here we are 29 years later, and I’m still enjoying it.”

Martin will soon be travelling the country, bringing his new tour to audience members across the central and eastern parts of the U.S. He said he is looking forward to coming back to Concordia.

“I’m coming back to Concordia and looking forward to it. It’s going to be all new material.”

“This tour is called ‘The Funny Life Tour,’ and really it boils down to something simple that I believe: that all of our lives are funny.”

“We’re just God’s little punch lines on getting there. You know, I tell young comics all the time, quit trying to be funny and just report the funny.”

“What I really enjoy is the fact that when I’m doing the show, and I really see people punching at each other, going Dude, he’s talking about you.”
