Eric Johanson to Bring Blues on the Greens to Marysville Country Club

MCAC Release

Eric Johanson will bring his blues artistry to the Marysville Country Club, 1070 Pony Express Highway, on Saturday, August 24, at 7 p.m. for “Blues on the Greens.”

The concert is sponsored by the Marshall County Arts Cooperative; admission is by freewill donation.

Johanson is a rising star in the world of modern blues, known for his electrifying performances and innovative style. Recently named one of Guitar Player magazine’s “25 Best New Blues Guitarists,” and listed among the top 50 in Total Guitar magazine’s “100 Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time,” Johanson offers a fresh take on the blues genre.

With roots that span from New Orleans to Memphis, Johanson’s journey through blues has been marked by a deep respect for tradition and a fearless approach to pushing boundaries. His music blends the raw emotion of the blues with the energy of rock, creating a sound that is uniquely his own.

His musical journey began at an early age when he received his first guitar at five, quickly becoming a self-taught prodigy. Embracing blues legends like Freddie King and Robert Johnson, he honed his craft on regional blues stages, sharing space with seasoned musicians from New Orleans to Memphis’ Beale Street.

His musical influences extended beyond traditional blues, drawing inspiration from diverse genres such as rock acts like Tool, Soundgarden, and Nine Inch Nails.

Johanson’s philosophy reflects his dedication to genuine musical expression: “Music is a way for me to try and make sense of my world and myself.”

As part of his “Don’t Hold Back” tour, Johanson brings his passion for authentic, heartfelt music to Marshall County.

“Whether you’re a long-time blues fan or enjoy live music in general, this is a performance you won’t want to miss,” said Sally Oliver, the treasurer for the arts cooperative.  “Come out, bring your friends, and enjoy an evening of great music outdoors.”
