Five local competitors will step into the spotlight at the Manhattan Arts Center (MAC) on Saturday, June 14th, to try their hand at a Game Show full of absurd, unpredictable, chaotic challenges during the MAC’s first-ever TaskMACster Game Show competition. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30.

Inspired by a long-running British series, Taskmaster, contestants will battle through unnecessarily odd tasks for the audiences entertainment. Cherrine Scott, Director, said the point is to have fun.

“It’s basically just a group of five people getting together, doing really nonsensical tasks, and they get awarded points, and they get prizes.”

“The whole point is just to be kind of as absurd and as funny as possible and just have a good time.”

Scott said audience members are encouraged to take part in the Game Show.

“It’s going to be a bunch of little things, like one example, a task on the show is who can eat an egg the fastest, and the contestants are given a raw egg. Now that’s not something we’re necessarily going to do live in front of an audience, but it’s silly tasks like that.”

“The goal is for the audience to feel like they’re part of the game itself. That way, they can hoop and holler, cheer, clap, and encourage people to do things.”

“We want them to be part of the Game Show.”

Competitors include MAC’s own Ashley Arnold-Hopkins, Matt Goss, Tom Addair, and more.

Ticket sales are open, and seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.manhattanarts.org/taskmacster.
