Milford Lake celebrated another remarkable year in 2024, surpassing 1.25 million visitors and reaffirming its status as a top tourist destination in Kansas. Despite a slight decline in visitation compared to 2023, the lake continues to draw over one million annual visitors. Rick Dykstra, Marketing Specialist for the Geary County Convention & Visitors Bureau, expressed excitement over Milford Lake’s ongoing impact on the community, region, and state.
The lake’s popularity has significantly boosted local tourism and the economy, thanks to its diverse range of activities. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, camping, hiking, and birdwatching, with Milford Lake particularly famous for its excellent fishing. A new Spray Park in Milford State Park has also been a major attraction for families.
Mike Harris, owner of Acorns Resort, noted the widespread appeal, welcoming guests from 24 states. The success of Milford Lake in 2024 highlights its importance as a cornerstone of regional tourism and a beloved recreational hub.
