The CarePortal, a care-sharing technology platform that supports children and families in crisis, has returned to North Central Kansas. Covering Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, and other counties, the CarePortal platform brings those in need together with local churches, DCF, and other organizations.
Michelle Long, Regional Manager, said churches and organizations can simply sign up on the platform to be part of the support system.
“Churches or community members can go to CarePortal.org and sign up to be part of the CarePortal platform.”
“The local agencies and schools that are working with these families can go on, submit a vetted need. Those who sign up will then get an email about a child or family in their community that has a need.”
“That then gives them an opportunity on the platform to hit a button stating they want to help with this need.”
“That is what CarePortal does.”
Long said when organizations sign up, they will receive the needs of people from their community, helping those in their specific areas.
The CarePortal’s main focus is to help fight the Foster Care Crisis by connecting people through its website. Long noted that 70% who are currently in foster care are there due to poverty.
“We are looking for anyone willing to wrap around the community members.”
“Right now, 70% of the children who are currently in foster care are in foster care due to poverty. CarePortal’s heart and goal is to keep these children at home with their parents in a safe, loving environment.”
“By doing that, we hope to get the churches and the community members to sign up with CarePortal to help these families stay together.”
