NEKCAP, Inc. and the Kansas Food Bank have partnered up to offer “The 2025 Filling the Gap Program.” The program will offer free summer meals to children in Washington and Republic Counties, along with other area counties, who meet certain income guidelines. The program provides shelf-stable prepackaged meals to kids aged 1-18 for 10 weeks during summer.

Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the application deadline is April 6th. Applicants must provide a valid ID and proof of income, such as a 2024 tax statement or recent paystubs. Income limits do apply.

Applications can be completed at www.nekcap.org under the Community Services tab, or by calling Tammy Wesley at 785-547-7136. Spaces are limited, so early application is encouraged.
