A program from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is helping landowners create wildlife habitat on their property.
The Habitat First program gives landowners the opportunity to create, enhance, and restore wildlife habitat through controlled burns, reforesting, invasive species control, and many other programs, said District 2 Wildlife Biologist Clint Thornton. Thornton said KDWP also works with landowners on payment for projects.
Those interested in participating in the Habitat First program are advised to reach out to their District Wildlife Biologist for more information.
