The City of Marysville will be bringing citizens together to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America with a Patriot’s Flag Mural Mosaic. Planned to be unveiled during the city’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July celebration, the mural will showcase works of art from the community.

Wayne Kruse, OneMarysville Director, said they are expecting 400 pieces to distribute to community members. He spoke about how the mural will take shape.

“We’ve ordered this mural so people from Marysville will have the chance to paint a tile. When you put all the tiles together, you get this overall mural picture of a flag with an American eagle.”

“When you get your tile, there’ll be instructions and your color palette. You can paint whatever you want, representing your take on what it’s like to live in Marysville or what Marysville means to you, and then we piece it all together.”

The finished product will provide a 7X12 foot mural, creating a beautiful landscape, highlighting the community and America 250. Kruse spoke of the impact of this project.

“I think the impact has several layers, actually.”

“It shows our individuality with each piece of the tile, but then when you put it all together, it creates a much bigger picture, and it helps us understand the fabric of the community and how we’re all part of that fabric.”

“So, there’s something symbolic about it, and there’s something even more symbolic when we put it together.”

“Then unveil it on the 4th of July as we celebrate a big anniversary for our country.”

OneMarysville will coordinate with the community to distribute and collect each tile once the kits arrive.
