The Rex Theatre will host its 2nd annual Daddy-Daughter Dance on Saturday, April 26th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rex Theatre. Featuring DJ Rick Stanley, the evening isn’t just for dads, but any positive male figure in a young girl’s life.
Renee Langvardt, Rex Theatre Manager and Event Coordinator, said she had been approached about hosting a Daddy-Daughter Dance, with communities around the area having successful Dances, she knew it was needed in Clay Center.
“The Daddy-Daughter Dance has come on my plate several times, and other people have tried to figure out a way to get it done. I just decided to kind of pick it up. So many communities around us do a Daddy-Daughter Dance, and I just knew that it had to be something that we did here in Clay Center.”
“Girls need a strong man in their lives, so I just wanted to bring this to our community. Last year we had our first Daddy-Daughter Dance, and it was really a special time.”
Along with dancing, attendees can enjoy fizzy punch and cookies. Concessions will also be open during the Dance, and Slingsby Photography will be there, offering professional pictures for a fee.
Langvardt said that while they won’t turn away spectators, it is discouraged as they would like it to be a special evening for just the man and girl.
Langvardt highlighted some of the memorable moments from last year’s Dance.
“One of my favorite things last year was when DJ Rick started playing this specific song and the girls all cheered at once, and the dads got in there and just danced like crazy, and it was an amazing thing to be a part of.”
“The other thing was how many dads said thank you at the end and said how much fun they had. It’s just a really special thing. We are really excited to do it again this year.”
Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the Dance. This is a great opportunity for men to grab their daughters, nieces, or other special girls in their lives and enjoy an evening of dancing and making memories.
