Abilene’s Cruise for Food Car Show Returns May 10th in Downtown Abilene

The Downtown Abilene Cruise for Food car show is returning this Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Little Ike Park, alongside Antique Fest. After a successful debut last year, organizer Rod Riffel is bringing the event back with support from fellow car enthusiasts.

The show features classic and modified vehicles from various eras and encourages food donations for local non-profits, including the Abilene Area Food and Clothing Bank and Neighbor to Neighbor Abilene. Entry for participants is $10 plus a non-perishable food item, while spectators can attend for free.

This summer event evolved from Riffel’s December Cruise for Food, adapted to suit warmer weather. Although vehicles won’t be judged, entrants are eligible for raffle prizes such as gift certificates and oil changes. Riffel credited last year’s success to relocating the show from Holm Automotive’s lot to Little Ike Park and emphasized the importance of volunteer support.

Food trucks will be available at both events. Vehicle registration runs from 9 to 11 a.m. the day of the show. Interested participants can contact Riffel at 785-200-4133.
