Anne Bruna, APRN, will retire from Community Memorial Healthcare at the end of August, caring for patients for over twenty-six years as a nurse practitioner at Community Physicians Clinic.
Bruna (left) received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marymount College in Salina, KS. After working as an RN, she returned to school and received her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from Clarkson College in Omaha, NE, in December 1998. She began her nurse practitioner career at Community Physicians Clinic in January 1999.
Throughout her career there have been many changes in healthcare, but Bruna noted the biggest change was the use of computers for everything from appointment scheduling to patient reports, orders, and dictation. The best part of her practice, she stated, was “getting to know my patients and their families. It has been one of my biggest honors. I knew I would be sad whether I retired now or when I was 75. They have been such a big part of my life and many are like family to me.”
Following her retirement, Bruna looks forward to spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, and being able to enjoy and attend their activities. She also enjoys running, biking, and hiking. She and her husband Andy have two sons, Derek and Brett, and three daughters, Andrea, Briana, and Allison, and twenty-four grandchildren.
Bruna’s last day is August 28th. Community Memorial Healthcare extends its gratitude for her service over the last twenty-six years and the wonderful care she has provided for so many people.
