By: Ryan Duey

The Arts Council of Dickinson County will host an open house for Abilene native Marissa McKinney on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in their east gallery at 401 N. Cedar Street.

McKinney, an Abilene High School graduate, has been interested in fine art since childhood, enhanced by her participation in the Chaffee-Bradshaw Summer Art Session. Her recent works will be featured in the exhibit, including a graphite drawing that won Judge’s Choice Champion in the Youth Division Open Class at the Central Kansas Free Fair.

McKinney plans to study biology and art at the University of Kansas. The exhibit, free to the public, will run from August 8 to September 17, open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday, with special viewings available upon request.

The Arts Council of Dickinson County, a 501(c)(3) organization, aims to promote the arts in the area.
